Oh this is so good! If you remember "Meetings in a Box" .. it's not this! This is smart and creative and well written and illustrated. Can someone plan any meeting with 'just' this? No! It's all very nuanced and it IS more than brain surgery or rocket science to plan and execute meetings and events. This tho' is a good start and a good guide even for those who are experienced .. sheesh, I have 40+ years in the industry and always want new thinking! Highly recommended.

This book stands out of the crowd of recent design/business books because it is so specific and actionable. I am a voracious reader of books that look at various aspects of meeting design, business thinking and learning development, and this book brings these together with a process that takes a very complex and often underdeveloped task of defining stakeholder objectives at the beginning of the meeting design process and makes it accessible. The book itself is well written, easy to follow and with its great design and illustrations visually enjoyable - something rare in a book. This is an excellent place for meeting and event professionals to start redefining for their clients (internal and external) both the WHY and the HOW of their event design.

This is particularly surprising, as the subject of Event Design that it tackles, is one of the most sprawling and amorphous business subjects I can think of! Having been involved with event design for over 30 years, the prospect of condensing it all down into an easy to understand and easy to read 200 page handbook, would scare me rigid! How would you begin? But, the three co-authors have succeeded in their task elegantly.At its core is the very logical and systematic "Event Canvas". Using this supported by a small number of other models and mapping techniques, and illustrated by real world examples, the authors provide an approach and the tools to enable any event designer - experienced or otherwise - to create highly effective events. If you are planning a new event, or re-assessing your approach to existing events, read this first!
An interesting and different view on events. Have never looked at events as agent of behaviour change before. Loved the drawings and appreciated the style very much. The book exposes different layers to the methodology and the proces. I am sure I can start a better conversation with my different internal stakeholders, introducing the EventCanvas. But I want to learn more and I am now looking at a training program to become certified Event Designer to feel absolutely comfortable implementing this in my organisation.
For the first time the process of organizing an event has been analyzed and all steps leading to success have been reviewed . I found it extremely helpful to design my events, build a business case, innovate and meet participant expectations. It is fun and enjoyable to read and it is easy to find what you are looking for when you need help. This is a unique reference book for event organizers of all kinds and sizes.
